Error: "Telemetry client failed to send data to:, with message: The remote name could not be resolved."

Why when I deploy a Container do I see the following error in the DeploymentWorkflowLog.txt log:

INFO  Cloudhouse.Telemetry.Client.TelemetryClient - Telemetry client failed to send data to:, with message: The remote name could not be resolved: ''. Stack:    at System.Net.WebClient.UploadDataInternal(Uri address, String method, Byte[] data, WebRequest& request)
   at System.Net.WebClient.UploadString(Uri address, String method, String data)
   at Cloudhouse.Telemetry.Client.TelemetryClient.Send(TelemetryEntry telemetryEntry)


This is a known issue. Cloudhouse has decided to deprecate telemetry and turned off our telemetry server ( As this server name can no longer be resolved, any Containers where telemetry is enabled will generate this error.


To resolve this issue:

  1. Navigate to the Container folder.
  2. Open chmetadata.json in a text editor such as Notepad++.
  3. Remove the following two lines which enable and configure telemetry:
"IsTelemetryEnabled": true,
"TelemetryApiUrl": "",
  1. Save the file.

It is planned to remove telemetry from a future release of the Auto Packager.


You will also see the same error when you uninstall a Container, as well as in the RunWorkflowLog.txt log when you run the application that has been containerised.
